Post by: valleyboy on March 11, 2012, 09:25:52 AM: Many great cover versions of songs have been done over the years, I find this cover of the Nine Inch Nails song "Hurt" covered by Johnny Cash just before his death in 2003 a moving, enigmatic, evocative rendition of the song, originally written about the despair and dark depths of drug addiction.

I also like Siouxsie and the Banshees Dear Prudence originally from The Beatles and Bryan Ferry A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall which came out 10 years after Bob Dylan first released it.

That said, I think this version of the classic "The Message" originally by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five is fantastic. Cover versions, correct me if I am wrong, shouldn't sound just like the original - which in this case was a most mellow affair. This one isn't. Give it a listen - it probably isn't for you but at least try it the once for me ;)

The gorgeous Nevra (see below) was the only other person there and when I looked out at the vista I honestly believed that I had died and gone to heaven.
