Title: Yabanci number
Post by: amca on June 29, 2012, 09:09:47 AM
This was new to me but may be known to the rest of you.
You should have a Yabanci Number as well as Tax Number and Residency Book.
This requirement dates back to 2010.
The number should be noted in the back of your book.
The link takes tou to a page in which you enter your year of birth and below it you enter the number from the front of your residency book.
Your details should appear.

Thanks for this, I hadn't heard of a Yabanci Number before, Now I have mine. Are we allowed to write the number in the back of residents permit or is it better to keep it on a bit of paper inside.

Hi Helen, better to keep it separately as you are not meant to 'deface'  the blue book.

I've been trying to pay my council tax online and it keeps sking for this number.
As I'm not resident I don't have one? Are they for full time residents only?

I think you only have a yabanci number if you hold a residents permit.  If I'm incorrect I'm sure somebody will put you right.

You are correct Marggie, you can only get your TC Kimlik number after you have your RP as the number from your RP book has to be entered on the website to get the Kimlik number. All yabanci numbers start with 99. I have written our Kimlik numbers in the front (along the top edge) of our RP books in pencil. Didn't get any complaints about defacing the book from the passport police when we renewed residency last year.

The NUFUS office wrote ours in pencil in the RP when they gave us ours.
We find that we are often asked for the Kimlik number particularly on official documents and things such as guarantees on new purchases
