Yes, I note on the news this morning they asked children did they know England won the World Cup?  None of them knew this.
I am surprised, as it is mentioned at every opportunity on the television and has been for the last 50 years.

Remember it well .I was sixteen, working and so happy my beloved Hammers had a big say in the match. :D It was a great team performance.Just reading Martin Peters autobiography and he states Alan Ball was man of the match for him, would't disagree with that.Treasure the memory as I can't see us being on top of the world again :(

I remember it well. I was a driver in the Royal Air Force at the time.

It was the last night of the Royal Tournament and I was trying to get out of Earls Court? with a helicopter on a queen mary long low loader truck. It was 3am and there were traffic jams everywhere our police escort were not amused.

I was 10 years of age at the time and I watched the match in my grandmas front lounge. I had just started to really get into football and I remember thinking ithis is great, the best team in the world! I was a participator ( I made a living out of the game in the lower leagues for 12-13 years) and have been an avid follower of football ever since. Sadly, in the last 50 years, my joy and euphoria of supporting our national team has never ever again, got close to that feeing I had on that fantastic day.

I was knocked off my motor bike by a German registered LHD  VW, whose occupants kindly drove off,

leaving me with an injured leg and a smashed up Ducati.  Obviously bad losers. Remember that day well.

 But we stuffed 'em.
