Seacat if you do decide to buy this is a good web page (American) that gives excellent advise on Turkish Carpets.

Jacqui has given all the best advice already and I would like to add that there are no bargains to be had in Fethiye - not at all. Nor in the carpet weaver places; in fact especially not in these places.

If you like it and can live with it maybe forever then it may not matter how much it costs but...

better bargains to be had in the UK, try ebay, car boots, 2nd hand shops, auction houses. You may be surprised at the offers available.

The web site Jacquie recommended succinctly sumarises all you need to know.

If anyone is interested a big prestigious Carpet Dealer in England Karel Weijand has died and all his stock is for sale at Auction.  You can view all the carpets on line with estimates of what they will make.  Also you can email for a condition report and more images and can leave a bid with the Auctioneers if you cannot make the auction.  Go to http://www.andrewsmithandson.com/catalogues.php  and view the catalogue.

Thanks Jacqui - I love turkish carpets/cushions, and whilst I have bought a few in Turkey I mainly bought mine from a seller on Ebay. I'll try looking on this site though as I'm after a few more .....

Yes? what does this mean???  Just looked at John Lewis website... It had three new Turkish Carpets starting at £2,400 and going to £4,600.
So really useful information if you have money to burn.
If you care to look at this Auction you will see old Turkish Carpets with estimates of 3 figures.
