Fortunately we don't have to think about it for another three years. However, the border run or a combination, as suggested by tribalelder, is now a serious option.

That is of course, that there are not any exocet missiles lurking over the horizon.

We still have 4 years left so will assess it then, the other big advantage is the 50% discount for medical treatment at the state hospital, touch wood we will not use this.

I've done without a RP for the last 4 years. Only last month I was beginning to think that it would be worthwhile getting one again for 6 months at a time. At around 300 TL for 6 months it was more expensive than a Tourist Visa but certainly saved the cost, inconvenience and possibility of crossings being cancelled during the winter storms. Back to plan A again, and 3 monthly trips to Meis, for the foreseable future.

The two steel hulled ferries now running would probably be less affected by weather conditions than Selos old motorised Ark :)

Tribalelder I have not renewed my residency because we have a car & phone line/ADSL already.
I can think of better things to spend the savings on and personally we enjoy our day trip to Meis every 90 days and the duty frees we bring back :D

Not sure where Fethiye Times get their figure to claim Turkey is 57% cheaper to live in than the UK.

Getting harder everyday to name anything that is cheaper here

Use an Irish passport if you have one as their prices havent changed that much.
