I assume that it is in order to avoid delays at check in. Imagine the impact on a Thomas Cook all destinations check in queue of some 300 people who are Turkey bound each having to provide API at check in. At even 10 seconds it would cause 50 minutes delay to following passengers.


Isn't that exactly what happened before - the API was filled in by the check in people[?]

Highlander It was only in March this year that the British Government brought it in as a requirement for people travelling to Turkey
