Best Shops for Food Shopping
« on: June 13, 2010, 10:53:02 AM »
Hi
Will be visiting in August and staying in a villa just behind Genpa.
Whilst away, I like to spend some of my time 'proper cooking' - that might sound a bit sad but true!

Where are the best and most reasonable places to buy Fish, Chicken & fruit and veg please?

Thanks for any help.

Dolly

for chicken and salads the best place is certainly the markets.  I don't buy a lot of fish, but I would suspect that the Fethiye Fish Market is probably the best for fresh fish.

Don't really care if it's August or December I still enjoy cooking and can understand others enjoying it too.
BIM (10 minute walk from Genpa) often have good offers on chicken.
Genpa itself is worth checking out.
The markets have lovely fresh fruit and veg.  Be aware they will always try to round up your chosen produce to the nearest kilo which sometimes results in you having to bin it after a couple of days.  Kipa's fish look good.
Apparently the fish market is good, however my husband hates the smell and is reluctant to eat anything from there (I know...he's strange!).

It's miles from there (literally) - but there is a good shop on the opposite corner for most basics.

From Dolphinless roundabout you can catch Dolmus to Kipa. Make sure you get the Fethiye via Gunlukbasi Dolmus though, not the coast road dolmus. 1 and half lira and about 10 mins ride
