Expect the council tax to go up substantially then! The roads have to be paid for somehow.

Funnily enough, although we paid a lot in road tax, more than most owners on the complex but less than a few...our personal council tax was 30% less than last year.

Weird.

Many other owners on the complex who didn't pay much road tax paid a lot more council tax!!!

Logic...yok.

There seem to have been a number of threads/posts on this topic which have confused me further. Is there a tariff of charges available so that individuals can calculate how much they are expected to pay?

Are property owners who have registered in joint names liable for double charges or not?

Thanks

Jac

I have just paid mine last week and can maybe dispel some myths;
Although not legally enforceable at this stage it will belevied as charge against your property until paid and is likely to become law next year.
The price is based on you banding for council tax which is set by the Belideye based upon there valuation of your property.
You still only pay one total ammount even if two names on Tapu eg bill 100ytl divided by 2 +500 ytl each.
If you have not received a written bill you will be informed of how much it is when you pay your council tax.At this point you are still entitled to 25% discsount as this is the first notification you have had.If you walk away without paying you will lose the discount.
My wife and I had 1156ytl to pay between us(2 names on tapu)this was council and road tax.We ended up paying 904ytl.
This was 4 days ago hope this helps.
