Who told her she has a virus? If it was a pop up which suddenly appeared on her screen it is probably a phishing scam!  Try running Spybot....it is a free download which gets rid of most of these nasties :)

the one i use to clear this type of thing is malwarebytes anti-malware.
just search for it on google. you may have to start the computer up in safe mode to install and run it.

Virus warning

We've got a virus warning on our pc and can't even open the internet any more to download one of the free anti virus programmes.  Any ideas?  We're pretty sure it's a fake warning, but it's now taken over our home page (the first window that opens when you start up the computer).

How can we get rid of it?  (On my netbook at the mo, as the pc is completely out of use!  :( )

Thanks for any help.   :)
