Slow, slow, quick, quick, slow

I am normally first into my office in the mornings and my laptop although not paticularly fast is ok.

But when everyone else is in it runs impossibly slowly.

Why is that - if that's not a stupid question.

And it is especially slow when attempting to laod a Word Document. Why should that be.

Serious questions so hopefully serious answers :)

It could be the network slOws down when others are in. A office computer is normally sending data back and forward on the network even when you don't realise it. So.....more people....more network traffic....more demand on services....slower computer

Think of it as going on a motorway journey when the roads are quiet and then rush hour starts....

Many thanks - perhaps I should get off the motorway when it gets busy :)

We have the same problem in our office but only when one particular unit is switched on.

Only other thing to try is to make sure you don't have anything running in the background on your laptop (virus scan etc)and maybe close any programs you are not using.

I think I may have a similar problem with one unit stoop. Thanks for letting me know.

Anybody got any thoughts on why it takes ages to open and close Word but not Excel for example.

firstly i'd run office repair, once complete go to onto microsoft's website and download the latest service pack for the version of office you are using.
