Olympic Flame
« on: May 19, 2012, 07:27:40 AM »
Just watched Ben Ainsley escort the flame by carrying the first Olympic torch on its mammoth journey through Britain and not sure if it's just me but I found it to be quite emotional. It made me feel like it was a flame of hope representing a united world and one that for a small piece of time at least can forget about all the problems going on around us.

Soppy old git I am!!!!!

A fine sentiment fletch but I'm afraid when I see a drugs cheat in a British vest I cannot get enthused.

I will however be interested to see just how well members of Team GB actually do after all the lottery money they have been given.

And I hope that there is only one candidate for the honour of lighting the flame in the stadium at the Opening Ceremony - Steve Redgrave.

Please God it's not David Beckham.

Agree with you about Sir Steve, he's a legend!  :)

We have a personal friend of the family that has been caught taking drugs and was well in line to represent the UK in sprinting and sprint relay, needless to say we are gutted!!! she has just received a 4 year ban but this is enough to take away any chance of her making any Olympics and for her I am sure it will be a lesson learned for the rest of her life.

Bernice Wilson in case you wanted to know. :-\:(

Am not liking what's being leaked - that it might be a 7 year old from the East End.

Could that be because Coe couldn't very well have himself light the flame and was damned if he would have another Olympian do it. :(
