Title: Turkish schools to stop teaching evolution
Post by: KKOB on June 23, 2017, 09:16:55 AM
Evolution will no longer be taught in Turkish schools, a senior education official has said, in a move likely to raise the ire of the country’s secular opposition.

Alpaslan Durmuş, who chairs the board of education, said evolution was debatable, controversial and too complicated for students.

It was reported in today's HDN that 33,000 teachers have been sacked under the current purge.

At this rate there will be nobody to teach the kids ANYTHING.!!          ;)

The Turkish Government doesn't have a monopoly on scientific illiteracy. The UK Government in pinned in place by the Ulster Democratic Party which has a track record of the same. Their Education Minister, Mervyn Storey, has called for schools to teach Creationism (the belief that life on Earth is of recent origin and started with Adam and Eve) whilst Culture Minister, Nelson McCausland, has called for the Ulster Museum to promote the same "theory" in its science exhibits. Some people might be ashamed to rely on the votes of such people to hang on to office and it certainly makes it difficult for our Govt. to criticize the AKP.
