If you people that kinda know could Polish their balls for me...what is the chance of the lira hitting 4 again in the not too distant Future? Have residency and health insurance etc to pay, and I, m a little short of the cost. I am loath to changing money when if it goes up I'll be sorted.

The only answer I could give would be so rude it'd make mary62 blush :)

Getting back to 3.8 - and staying up there! - would be a useful start.
-
After my taxi driver lesson in rude turkish the other night ..nothing will shock me ;D :-[
-
Sorry Bernie, my crystal ball bust last week & the bloke can't get the parts for it, so that's me *uggered ;)
-
Oh no Liz.. : :)
-
We got 3.87 the first week in October, it was 3.72 today in Calis.
-
Best place for exchanging sterling is The Kuwait bank in Fethiye... Where the old ING Bank was... Better than any exchange office or jewelers. You don't need to be a customer but you do need to change 100 pounds or over... Very helpful staff.
-
Good to know, thank you Mercury x
-
Not a good day for you Bernie. Lira up over 1% against the dollar and euro and - of course - most of all against the poor old pound.
-
Thanks Colwyn. Let's hope it doesn't drop any further.
-
Lira was 2.66 in Oludeniz and 2.68 in Calis but when we asked in Calis we got 2.72. The Dovis was standing at 2.77. So even the Kuwait Bank could not do better than that.

Sorry 3.66. 3.68 and 3.72..... Amazing what a few G.&.T's can do with the currency.

Cant see the pound going up to 4tl while UK in brexit mood.
-
Not in our lifetime then?
-
Still not bad to be honest. We were getting much less than this a few years ago.

3,92 at the moment, Garanti Bank.
-
Lira almost in freefall just now, Finans now 3.93. Wouldn't be surprised to see 4.00 by close of business at this rate. Another all time low against the USD, 3.15 and still falling.
JF
-
Any cash points at Dalaman?
-
Panic buying. ??? :) :) :)
-
Over 3.95 now. Reckon it wont go much further this being Friday and the Turkish financial markets about to close shortly - but you never know.
JF
-
Lira down to 3.97 to £ now. And 3.17 against the $. It's having a seriously bad day.
-
I seen that. Never say never...
Turkish banks have fixed their online rates for over the weekend, Finans set the lira at 3.86 to the pound and at 3.13 against the USD. Main site now showing 3.96 and 3.16 respectively.

At the exit from Arrivals.

If it does hit 4 or more won't prices for tourists go up anyway?
-
No, they will get more lire for each £ making everything cheaper.

Except that Eastern Mediterranean Economics means that the fewer tourists you have, the more you have to charge each of them, in order to make up the shortfall. This fuelled Southern Cyprus' downward tourism spiral some years ago.
-
Ah yes, all of a sudden the traders all insisted everything was imported :)
