Title: Garanti GBP Account Withdrawal
Post by: braveheart on October 15, 2018, 18:35:45 PM
Hello Good People

Please bear with me while I ask the following:
Perhaps somewhere in the middle of the forum there lies an answer but I am unable to find this

My wife and I have a GBP A/C with GARANTI
We opened this last year in a little haste with the  intention of adding Internet and bankcard access during our next visit

Unfortunately since this period I have  encountered a serious health condition which has prevented us from getting back to Calis

Now the problem is that it has become necessary that we transfer a portion of GBP from the Fehiye account to our UK account

I have tried to contact and communicate with Ayce Kalafat Cabi in GARANTI but to be honest with very little success

I presently believe that (without internet) the only way to withdraw/transfer any money is for us to be present within the branch

This sadly is not an option at the moment

Can anyone advise me if there are alternative options?
1) Can we open internet banking while I am in the UK?
2) We were even considering trying to obtain a Power of Attorney

Could anyone advise me of an alternative contact within Fethiye branch GARANTI?
An email?
Or telephone?

At one stage I tried GARANTIwebsite and was directed to their Head Office but this all ended going round in circles

We are presently finding it so hard to get directions

Thank you all for your time and help

Kindest Regards
BobP

I am still following up with my problem regarding GBP transfer to UK from our GARANTI bank A/C while being present in UK

I was wondering - While we are here in the UK - would it be possible to nominate a POA to act on our behalf??
Now THAT is probably a silly question !!

Karennina and Lissa - we haven't forgotten your extremely generous offers and will PM you on our progress at some time
Please accept our thanks and kindest regards

Yes, you can nominate a POA to act for you without leaving the UK.

https://tbcci.org/power-of-attorney-turkey/

Your first step is to find a Notary Public close you using Google or another search engine.

May I just update as to where I have reached concerning trying to transfer GBP from my GARANTI  GBP account to my GBP UK account

As explained earlier owing to my ill health we are unable to get to Calis

Taking advice from KKOB we arranged to obtain a POA to act on our behalf
Thro our POA we managed to open a GARANTI nternet banking account
Unfortunately the type of internet account does not allow INTERNATIONAL transfers
We were looking to enable a SWIFT transfer

We are presently trying to arrange a change to the type of internet account we have

Special thanks to Karenina and Lissa for their kind gestures

Meanwhile we have tried to transfer using TRANSFERWISE
To transfer GBP direct from our GARANTI GBP account to GBP in our UK account

We could not find a way to do this - so we contacted TRANSFERWISE
This is their response:

*********

Thank you for your e-mail and I hope you’re doing well.

Since we operate via local bank transfers, then we cannot receive GBP from a bank account located in Turkey. We can only accept TRY.

If you would like to hold this money in your GBP Borderless account, then you simply need to go to Balances > GBP > Add GBP and follow the steps to top up this account. Then, when you feel like the rate has gotten better, or when you’re ready, you can transfer this money out to your personal GBP bank account by going to Balances > GBP > Send GBP.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to let us know – we’d be happy to help.

Have a great day!

Can anyone advise me further?
We are struggling with what we thought would be a simple transaction
