Post by: kevin shilvock on March 25, 2009, 19:24:48 PM: Hello im new to this site but ive spent about three hours today browsing through this site,And ive seen so many people asking about uk television i would just like to tell everyone ive been watching uk television here live im Fethiye for six months,ive got no ugly satelite dish or fancy digi boxes fitted,i can watch uk television live 24/7,bbc1 bbc2 bbc3 itv 1 itv2 itv3 channe4, channel 5, etc and its live, news at ten well that becomes news at twelve because of the two hour difference,not sure how the bloke set it up but all you need is a pc and broadband connection and it works brill,it cost me 50ytl and that was it no monthly payments etc,and the chaps english ive no phone number but i do have his email if you want to contact him as i did using his email, email address removed so now you know you can get british tv so no worry, thanks Kevin 8)

I ask because I just bought one to get HD TV (free of course) and it's a pretty cool piece of equipment. Just hook it up to your sky dish and away you go. Thing is would it work in Turkey (larger dish needed I know)?

PS - The one I bought - Humax Foxsat is really tiny and would easily fit in your hand luggage.

I have one here and well worth it for the HD sport.

As far as I know to do what you say you must have a proxy server in place with a UK IP address. What guarantees does he give that it will never change?
We have a set up like this but pay per month but that guarantees us that the IP address is permanent.
Would be interested to know what this fellow offers and may well switch.

Have downloaded it and got it working but it keeps freezing. We have got the top package on TTnet so have the fastest download speeds anyone else experiencing the same problem here in Turkey?
Tried downloading google chrome but it wanted me to reinstall Adobe flash player which I have already. When I tried to download it again my PC was sending me warnings that downloading it could damage my pc so I cancelled it.
Any advise?

Post by: tel on March 27, 2009, 19:09:00 PM: Mark, first of all do a speed check. I have got by all year watching UK tv with just 1meg connection. Streaming needs around 800-900 I think. Is your computer up to spec.enough ram etc!! Make sure you are unlimited internet time as watching one prog about an hour long would use about half a gigabyte.
http://www.tvcatchup.com/login/ will access 18 channels in the proxy panel I gave you earlier. Try BBC Player and ITV for live and missed progs and even Sky(if you have a contact in the UK with Sky, you can access with their help all the paid channels to).

Like Loz says too, check your electric power points that they are delivering enough volts to keep the modem happy. Then see TT people to check the line.
Firo, maybe your other set up is in conflict! Try viewing through another browser seperate from your usual one. Not sure what Woody has come up with! Never heard anyone say that 4Mb ever delivers 4Mb. At least you have your other system if all fails huh.

Mark i would not bother about a year ago i got various companys in the uk to ping the south west turkey as i was thinking of streaming uk tv but the adsl system down here was not up to it the only way to get a suitible down load speed was to use satellite broadband but doing this was to costly you will find that some days are better than others either it keeps buffering or the quality varies this area cannot support adsl 2 yet possibly when things get better then worth another look but you can download catch up tv to your hard drive then ther is no problem

Post by: crazydave on March 29, 2009, 08:00:03 AM: loads of folks are using this it can take ages to download and install but it does work, can also point out that the hotter your pc processor gets the slower your pc runs,webpages load slower,downloads are slower, sometimes not in all cases the processor getting hot can affect your graphics card which will give you poor picture quality,i use a fan assisted cooling pad under my laptop which plugs into my usb port,if you do not have one try putting something under your laptop just under the back edge so your laptop tilts forward to allow more air to circulate,as with my tower i remove the side covers during the summer months here,the reason for this is your pc is already hot at room temperature before you turn it on.

Post by: busybee on April 20, 2009, 05:16:12 AM: Well finally got round to slypimp/tvcatchup on Sat morning. Registered and it worked fine. Watched 5mins of something and thought this is great and Mick watched sports roundup, he was well happy.

Tried yesterday and this morning and its say Access denied, Access to TVCatchup via a proxy is not permitted.

Am I doing something wrong?

i use itv.com, easy online tv -UK streaming, readontv, youtube. The main thing to remember is befor using the ip hider to log onto UK programms you must delete all your tracking cookies from you internet explorer icon on your desktop. if i cannot get onto itv for example, i just delete all my cookies and away i go.

I guess evrybody has different systems and software to protect it and sometimes this is the difference of viewing or not I guess.
Try turning off your anti-virus and seeing if it works with maybe windows built in virus especially as they say Vistas is much better than XP. Some anti virus(loads actually) slow everything down to much, maybe yours does that!!! Avast anti software is free
and is high on most peoples list as it does not slow down the progs so much.
