Title: Problems with photos?
Post by: nichola on July 30, 2012, 13:35:13 PM
I recently changed my operating system from Vista to Windows 7.

That change alone has caused me no end of grief one way or another (my advice leave well alone) but one of the things causing me problems is that when I crop photos I can still see the whole image afterwards.

I use photofiltre for cropping (which I had to re download again) so it may be that it is a different version but I still don't know why a cropped image would present as the full as opposed to the cropped image.

Is there some setting that I can change to sort this out. I take and crop a lot of photos and I rename them all so it gets confusing trying to work out which is still full size and which is not.

Thanks

You should go on a photography course!  ;)

I find Photofiltre confusing, can you not use the software (Windows Live Photo Gallery) that comes with W7?

Just a word of warning, I did a Malwarebytes scan recently & it found an embedded trojan in Photofiltres set-up software, best check just in case.

PS: W7 is way superior to Vista, once you get used to it  :)

I mainly use Paint Shop Pro for my editing, tried Photoshop but found it too complex for my old brain. WLPG is ok but you'll make a few mistakes, well I did anyway!

Thanks for tip Mark.

I couldn't find WLPG but I did find tucked away Microsoft Office Picture Manager and I edged a little extra crop on a previously cropped image and it worked and it would seem it has had a knock on effect so that all sinning photos on my hard drive have lost the full image view.

The magic didn't translate to the images on my external drive but fortunately there aren't too many of them to re crop.

Thanks again
