Title: Your Greatest Football Memory
Post by: Scunner on December 23, 2017, 18:45:09 PM
MOTD recently had something like this in their FB group. Question is, the biggest, strongest, favourite moment you experienced in your football watching life.

No need to say it if you can post a photo, and others can say what it was. Then post their photo.

Here’s mine:

Feel free to add yours in words if you aren’t a photo poster  :)

Easy for me
Englands 4th goal scored by Sir Geoff Hurst from a sublime pass by Bobby Moore
Immortalised by Kenneth Wolstenholmes words "They think it's all over-It is now"  ;D

I seem to have spoiled things.

There have been no more posts on favourite soccer ball moments.

Sorry all - please retract my Jonny Wilkinson moment.

Favourite soccerball moment...

Being of mixed race, this one too - possibly one of my earliest football memories still retained today:

Voted the greatest World Cup goal of all time I believe.

PS Claiming to be of mixed race won't necessarily get you an invite to "the" wedding

In the most appalling conditions with a wet, heavy ball.

Incredible.

Good choice.

Being Irish it has to be 12th June 1988. Ray Houghton's goal for the Republic of Ireland against England. It was not a great goal but an important one as it was the ROI first goal in a major championship. Prior to 1988, the ROI never qualified for a major tournament. I was lucky to be there. Not only was I proud that Ireland won but also the way the fans behaved. Stuttgart was a sea of green and not one arrest made on the day.

Being of mixed race (half English half Scottish half Irish) that has stirred a great moment memory for me. I remember this goal took about an hour from the time he struck it till it hit the back of the net :D

May 14th 1995, Blackburn Rovers lost 2.1 against Liverpool at Anfield but we won the Premiership Title. We are a long way from that now but the memories never fade.

My favourite was when Fenerbahçe played Fethiyespor and I put a fiver on Fethiyespor winning 2-1
33/1 odds made a nice little win
