It may come as no surprise to learn that newcomer (to Calis) Motif Restaurant is the 2019 winner.
Oben Restaurant improved on their third place last year and were second.
Third place went to Gunisik.
For the first time in many years Bella Mammas slipped out of the top three and last years winner Babzen also didn't feature in the top three.
Many thanks to members who voted.

Great choices all three.
-
Good result.
-
Great result for all the hard work by Nicola & Dogan at Motif.
Am very surprised that Babzen isn't in the top 3, Salih turns out consistently good quality with great service, especially the Turkish breakfast offering which is superb!
-
Great result ,we visit all of these
-
I'm surprised Gustorante isn't on there in the top three but well done to the three deserving winners :)
-
I suppose it’s a bit off the holiday beaten tracks Rana. We went for lunch in October and really liked it.
-
It is good that different restaurants win this poll, we went to a babzen when it first opened and really liked it, so much so that last year we returned but it was not so good and we were really disappointed, so won't be going back. On the other hand we discovered Obens and loved it, went back loads of times and hopefully will return there again this year along with our other favourite, Bella Mama.
-
Well done all three
-
I couldn't have wished for a better result. Well deserved recipients. Excellent food, excellent, friendly service. you can't ask for more. Bravo! Well done to all :D
-
Thank you all very much to everyone that participated in this poll - we are of course delighted and we really appreciate all the support and the warm welcome we have received in Çalış, a really fabulous location I had previously never really appreciated.
Here for a change is a message from Doğan...
We would like to thank you so much on behalf of motif team for warm welcome to Çalış.
We wish to carry on doing our best to give you dear friends a cultural dining experience..
See you in April :)

In 2012 we produced A Visitor's Guide to Local Hotels, Restaurants, Bars and Shops.
I wonder is it worthwhile updating it.
I would require help from seasoned tourist and enthusiastic residents.
View welcome. :)
-
Thank you for doing that.I read the reviews but then can’t place them all, probably like a lot of people I go over the bridge to the front and then turn right, i’ll have to venture left next time.

That sounds a brilliant idea; I've been coming to Turkey for 13 years (4 times in 2019) and am still learning my way around...for example, exactly where is the "Dolphin-less roundabout"? So many directions are given from that central point, but still haven't worked out where it is!!!
Back to the Visitors' Guide, you could make it a "wiki" and allow CBF members to update and maintain it; it should take the pressure off you or few.
Just my tuppence' worth.

The "dolphinless roundabout" was once the "dolphin roundabout" as it had a roundabout with a dolphin/turtle theme. This was removed some years ago but the name semi stuck :)
I have an old photo of it which I will seek out hopefully and post.
It is the main junction with traffic lights and roundabout at the end of the main 'strip' - where Josefs Bar etc are. With your back to the bridge head up away from the sea to the junction - that's the dolphinless roundabout :D

That's fantastic! Thanks for that; now I can chart my course to all the best places without ending up in Saklikent!

Now there’s a photo I really need to dig out :D
-
I was in Calis when the roundabout was removed the first time the international cycle race came through. The dolphins were left resting by the ATMs but the roundabout was never rebuilt.
-
Me too Jan - do you remember one of the cyclists went flying when he hit the stones that were loose?

I don't think it has ever been made public on the Forum. :) :) :)

I can't believe I would have allowed such an oversight of the opportunity
-
I can’t remember what year it was, but such an upheaval at the time for a race thats over and done with in a few minutes. It was a landmark for directions and was meant to be rebuilt, now we’re left with an ugly complicated junction to nowhere.
-
Ah yes jan deli, but great fun to sit at Huner Cafe with coffee and cake watching traffic, and pedestrians, trying to negotiate their way round it ;D

All the staff team at Motif restaurant would like to thank members of Çalış Beach Forum for voting for us in their 2019 best restaurant poll organised on the forum by John - Highlander and Keith - Scunner.
We were delighted to receive a certificate brought along by Liz 101 as John isn't able to be here this year and our only regret is some of last years team are also unable to be here because of the virus.
Thank you all very much 😊
-
Well done !! but why are you not in the photo ? :)
-
Congratulations Nichola and Dogan - sorry I couldn't make the presentation but my grateful thanks once again to Liz for taking the time to make it on behalf of CBF
-
Congratulations and well deserved, Nichola and Dogan. We're on the way over on 13 August and are looking forward to visiting Motif (a few times, at least!)...can't wait!
