You are right Val. Sterling is a Foreign currency and it is easy to forget that.

Garanti explained to us that interest should be taken from our account on the date we opened the account account ie. 3rd March, April etc.  By doing this you are allowing for a full month of interest starting the following day, to do otherwise loses you that months interest payment. At lease that's my understanding of it but like you Teresa we've always just left it in the account.

Yes I do agree with giving notice and if I was going to do this in the UK I would have to give my bank notice.  I can only assume the lady concerned perhaps might have walked right in on the day and asked her request expecting to draw requested amount.

It wasn't that they didnt have the money - it was that that they said they were keeping it for another customer and were very rude!

Must be first come first served basis and you happened to be second in the queue, the thing is how would you know someone had not got there before you?

I have £20 sterling in coins and can I change them or get rid of them? nobody will take them not even the bank into my account - how strange! Anyone know why this is?
