Hi Kevin, If you interupt the High interest account you lose all the interest, accrued in that account period. You cannot increase the amount into it or withdraw any amount from it. Hence my explanation in a previous post.If you want to add cash, open a daily interest account,it will have a good level of interest probably not less that 2% of your high interest account. Then transfer it to your high interest account on the maturity date. This assumes the cash you place in the daily interest account is not less than about 1000 lira.

With the 700$ billion American plan looking more and more likely to be rejected, and what with what is happening over here with the banks it just looks more and more like doom and gloom for everyone.Interest rates are going to plummit no matter what Country you live in.

I would disagree that interest rates here in Turkey are going to "Plummet". They may well ease a little downwards though. Turkish  banking is very cash rich and the bottom line is not propped up by assets! The possibility of Fortis in Turkey being sold is because it is very profitable and the revenue raised will aid the lame ducks in the European banking system. :)

For all the worriers out there,

I agree with Tribalelder. The banks here are cash rich, not asset rich. That makes a huge difference. As for bank recommendation, I use Finansbank. Ayse Serefoglu (silent g) is the banks vice president-foreign depositors and speaks great English and is very intelligent. She now has staff operating under her auspice and they all speak very good English as the bank has put them on an English speaking programme in order to communicate with us ex-pats. Plus, I think you will find that interest rates will again rise in October!
Hip, hip, hip, hooray.
