Off topic I know but just came back from Egypt, had a fantastic holiday we were in Cairo for a day trip, the day before the riots. The hotel Grand Makadi at Hurghada was excellent; spotless, all inclusive, and the weather was perfect. Mind you outside of the hotel the landscape looked looked like the moon. Can't help you on the price of a pint. At £319 a bargain.
£13 for a visa to enter Egypt so there was a bit of scrambling around for change.

I can't see Turkey willingly give up all those £10 tourist visa charges.  It's an enormous amount of revenue for them.

They'll probably increase the cost of the residency visa to compensate
