Greek holidays comeback in 2011
« on: June 01, 2011, 08:22:26 AM »
Just read in todays paper that Greece and its islands holidays for 2011 are taking loads of bookings from tourists  who were  considering Turkey. At least 20% of them with price savings of a couple of hundred quid  for a family of four  !!
We had a love affair with Greece for 10 years.. then  we discovered Turkey  :)   I never thought Greece would recover its popularity but evidently things are beginning to change again.

We haven't yet booked our Turkish August trip - just watching to see what happens with flight prices etc.  However whilst looking we have noticed considerable difference in costs for Greek holidays - on the whole much cheaper than Turkey.  Several friends have snapped up last minute Greek deals this year....

We took trip to Rhodes last week.
Two crappy lunches and two orange juice ==25euros.
Yep plenty money required.

I've visted 13 different Greek Islands in the past but discovered Turkey when the Euro disaster struck the Greeks. Would I go back now just beacsue it's cheaper? Possibly but Turkey has a lot more to offer than Greece, irespective of the cost option, for me it's quality not price that matters when I take my hard earned (sometimes!) hols!
