Can you buy blood sugar testing gadgets over here or do you have to keep going to the hospital . ;)

Yes you can buy blood testers in many chemists. The only problem I found in Turkey was that I would buy a tester and when I went back  some months later to buy  a new box test strips they no longer sold them. I was a type 2 diabetic and only needed to test my sugar levels a couple of times a week. This meant that a box of test strips lasted about 4 to 6 months. The test strips are expensive and have a limited life.

The chemist I used would give me a new tester. At one stage I had 8 of them and no test strips.

I buy test strips in the medical equipment shops and yes they are fairly expensive
