Why was it neccessary to change it? Will take a bit of getting used to.

Apparently it replaces the old symbol which was like a £ sign but had a double stroke crossbars rather than the GBP's one. I'll sure miss that good old symbol. Won't you?

Didn't even know there was a symbol until now... certainly I can't remember seeing the £ like one before today  :)
