There are more garanti banks then any other bank here. Around several hundred branches in Istanbul. If you go to taksim square, there is one by the Marmara hotel and they have english speaking staff there.

On the subject of Garanti Bank,I keep getting texts to say I owe them money and they will be coming to remove my furniture unless I pay them my outstanding mortgage!!!!!!!Considering I have never banked with Garanti, owned a house over here or even had a credit card over here then its something of a mystery how they got my mobile number.I have tried phoning the number at the end of the texts but all I get is a recorded message (in Turkish) then put on to 'muzak'!!!!Anyone got any suggestions on how to stop these texts apart from just deleting them,as I have been doing?

are you sure you are not ringing a premier rate line Grizzy? also we often get texts from the Polis warning us of hoax texts and not to pass on any details.

Have the number blocked on your phone.
