Pantry Moth Gone
« on: October 16, 2014, 15:52:25 PM »
Just to let people know that the pantry moth infestation has now been eradicated.   For those who have this problem this is what I did to get rid of it.
1.   Throw away all grains whether infected or not.  Check under the lids of any jars of herbs, vinegar etc as I found grubs here.
2.  Clean the cupboard out with bleach and I also used Cif Power Cream.  If possible remove the shelves as I found grubs on the side of the shelves.
3.  Wash out every container and examine every bit of the container as I found grubs in holes in the handles of some containers.   Remove these with a cocktail stick as washing does not get rid of them.
4.   Put everything in a plastic container unless a tin or a jar.
5.  After filling new containers with rice, flour etc put in the freezer for a couple of days to kill anything which may be lurking there.
6.  I now wipe everything before putting in the cupboard ie tins and jars.   I also wipe packets of biscuits and examine the packets for grubs before putting in the container.

In a previous life were you a nuclear radioactive waste spill clean-up operative?

I do wonder sometimes why certain posts on here which seek genuinely to pass on information are treated with such disdain  :(
