USB Ports not working?
« on: November 06, 2014, 23:03:43 PM »
I am trying to download my photos off my phone to laptop.
Each time I have plugged the phone in I cant find it nor does it 'pop up' which it used to.
I have tried different ports, Swapping the USB Cable and plugging in my tablet instead of phone.
It charges the phone but I can't access the storage (phone).
I am running Windows 7.
Thanks for any help!!!

Try rebooting with the phone plugged in.

Instead of plugging it in, use the tethering facility and see of that works.

On your phone go to Settings > More Networks > Tethering > Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot

Your phone and laptop should then link via a wi-fi connection and you'll be able to either transfer the pics or synchronise the 2 devices so that they share the pics.

Obviously not sure which phone etc but on some there is a setting to change it's USB status from a device to effectively a hard drive. If you can find that setting you may be able to change it back to the setting that worked.

Ok here is where I am up to so far.
Phone plugged into sons laptop and detected fine.
Phone plugged into my laptop and no joy.
Same lead. So it is my laptop not the phone or lead.
Any further suggestions welcomed.
Thanks

Scrap your laptop.
Take your son's away from him.
