Has anyone flown from Dalaman to North Cyprus if so were there any visa problems.Pegasus do a domestic flight quite cheaply.I just thought it would be nice to visit rather than booking a separate holiday from the U.K. I welcome any advice.

Did this a couple of years ago and N Cyprus is a brilliant place much more pleasant than the South IMO. Loads to see and do and much cheaper overall than Turkey. There is a great Dolmus/bus service and Taxis and car hire are cheap (they also drive on the left so it makes it easier if you are wary of driving abroad). We went for a week and it wasn't long enough, so we are planning to go back either this Autumn or late spring next year. The only downside is that the Dalaman flights are no longer direct and you have to fly via Istanbul, or alternatively you can get a direct flight from Antalya. Well recommended but allow at least a weeks stay to get around everything....

PS N Cyprus is an international flight not a domestic one so the usual customs/immigration rules apply...

If you're flying from the UK, the Pegasus flights from Stansted to Istanbul continue on to N Cyprus, without the need to change aircraft.

I agree with philrose, North Cyprus is beautiful especially Kyrenia harbour. We stayed in a boutique hotel overlooking the harbour. Stunning! We used to walk to the back streets to the more Turkish eateries, much cheaper and popular.

Hated it. If you like casinos and duty free shops its great Im sure.
Nowhere near as friendly as here, long straight flat roads with no scenery and nothing on the side of the road to look at.
Nicosia is a good way to fill an hour as is Famagusta.
Apart from that theres different supermarkets to browse  ;)

I agree with you not half as friendly as Fethiye,  Kyrenia was ok for a few days,
I spent 6months in Cyprus, and was glad to leave,
I know a few people who tried to settle there, but couldn't,
But saying that, not everyones the same, so best of luck if you give it a try.

For ten years we visited a different Greek Island or holiday spot, but, on the eleventh Year, we visited Northern Cyprus. We were not blown away by the scenery but by the warmth and welcome of the Turkish people. We had been "brainwashed" by stories of Ala Pasha and his atrocities by the Greeks, but heard a very different story from the Turkish Cypriots. From then on, we visited Turkey. To say there is no comparison is an understatement, both for scenery and the warmth of the people. I can honestly say that I have never heard a bad word from the Turks re: the Greeks, but heard countless stories the other way around. Although we adored Northern Cyprus and it proved to be an eye opener, we still would, for scenic reasons, prefer Turkey. The people however, are beautiful wherever we go.

There are a couple of flights a day at least from Antalya to Ercan. The same from Izmir.

However, there are at least 14 flights a day from Istanbul. So, it's a toss-up between flying from Dalaman to Istanbul and then on to Ercan with a wide choice of flight times, or a long drive to Izmir or Antalya with limited choice of flight times.

Just to add to the pot, there's a daily flight from DLM to Ankara, from where there are 3 flights a day to Ercan.

Think just depends on connecting times if you fly to Istanbul or Ankara. Personally I would rather do a direct flight from Antalya or Izmir. I had a flight a few years ago, from Dalaman to Istanbul and then onto Ercan. Flight from Dalaman was delayed so onward flight to Cyprus was the next morning. My luggage did not arrive in Cyprus for three days after I arrived. I was told it went to Cyorus and then went back to Istanbul. Hopefully would not happen now.......
