On reading a bit more about this, it appears it only affects package holidays, not flight only so if that's the case us, and anyone else just booking flights should be ok, IF the worst happens, and I sincerely hope it doesn't!  :(

Looks like flight only will continue for now but it's worrying for the medium to long term.

“Our flights are operating as normal, carrying Monarch customers as scheduled. Our ATOL licence – for packaged holidays – is with the regulator. Flight only bookings do not require an ATOL licence, in line with other airlines,” a Monarch spokesman said.

The company’s tour-operating arm which requires an ATOL represents just 5pc of the group’s revenues, but there are fears that the loss of confidence among airport and payment partners could have a significant negative impact on the rest of its operation."

Strange one as it was 12 months ago, they do seem to be strong in terms of money in the bank?

I'd say it's more than a mess. They have now ceased trading and all 300.000 flights have been cancelled. Sorry for all those that will be affected by this news.
