Feel bad for all the people that will be affected by this 2017/2018. Why sell flights for 18 knowing what's on the cards. Not good.

Hope you manage to get another flight Marina.  We always used Monarch for their great flight times, extra legroom seats and reliability.  So sorry for the staff too, they were always really pleasant.

Thanks Bluwise. As long as I can get some more flights we'll be ok. We can claim costs back through insurance or credit card. Others won't be so lucky. Feel really sorry for all those who have lost jobs too.

I was due to fly on Monday, they were happy to take my money on Thursday for seats. My travel insurance doesnt cover the airline going bust nor does my debit card.

Anyone that has paid for flights I would check your terms and conditions in Insurance policy, as most do not offer to reimburse if airline company goes bust, its an extra to most policies
Got new flights but cost £150 more

DEBIT cards use little known chargeback via your bank who should refund you

Some good news for those like us who are already abroad.

If your flight is before 16th Oct you will be flown home by the CAA.

Phew - I jumped in early and booked flights back with Easyjet to Newcastle instead of Leeds and the planes were chocca! Had to pay £50 for extra legroom seats. Two days early as well.

Then I found out they will fly us home so just cancelled. £25 up the spout but a full holiday.

Sorry for all those affected. It must be awful heading for the airport and then finding you have no flight.

Well I had 3 flights booked for May and September 2018. I've re-booked with EasyJet for May. For a 2 weeks stay the wife's cost an extra 40 quid. For a six weeker mine cost an extra 80 quid. Now I'll have to be on the look out for September flights from EasyJet to try to catch the early bargains. Does anyone know how to go about getting a refund from Paypal?
Oh, another minor issue, my daughter is now redundant after being cabin crew with Monarch for 18 years >:( :(

Look on the bright side. It should solve Ryanair's pilot shortage.
