Best way to get to Patara?
« on: August 15, 2018, 19:26:39 PM »
We are coming over at the end of September.to Calis and would like to go to Patara beach while we are over. Last time we went as part of a private taxi tour it was too windy so we didn't stay long but as it was such a lovely beach we'd like to go back. There will be four of us and was wondering if you can get there and back by bus in a day as would prefer not to pay for a taxi as it's expensive and a waste as the taxi just sits there while we spend the day on the beach? If we have to go by taxi does anyone know the cost of a return journey? Your help will be much appreciated thanks

The Kalkan /  Kas buses stop at the Patara junction, just after Ova, on the D400 and there are usually taxis waiting there to take fares into Patara centre.

It takes about an hour each way from Fethiye Otogar.

Thanks KKOB. I thought that might be the only way to get there by bus. Not sure if we'll do it as would be concerned there would be no taxi to take us down to Patara and also the risk of missing the bus back but thanks for the info.

Hire a car. Make a day of it. Drive up to Seki, across to Elmali and then drop down to Patara for the afternoon.

Last time we went to Patara on the bus, albeit a few years ago, the regular dolmus was waiting at the top of the road to take people from the bus down to the village and then onto the beach. I'm sure there will be some form of transport there waiting to connect the main road to the village.

Thanks Marina. Feel a little happier hearing that and will think about going when over. As for car hire unfortunately my husband won't drive in Turkey. We've known too many Turkish friends who've died in car accidents but thanks for the suggestion.

I'm pretty certain that there's a taxi rank AND dolmus stop at the turning by the UFUK (yeah that's right) Market. I've always seen one or the other waiting at the junction when I've driven past.

Think you're right there KKOB, both dolmus and taxis wait at the top. Give it a go Georgie Girl  ;D

Just so you know it is always quite windy there.
