My bellwether for what the grumpiest of grumpy old men are thinking is the notorious Masons' Arms. When I was there the other day I noticed some, an increasing flow, going into the other room where the TV screen is. What was going on? I followed them They were watching the women's boxing. I thought they would be laughing at the event. Far from it. When one of of them made a joke about an Irish boxer - "She is handicapped by having to wear wellingtons" the grumpiest of the grumpies shouted "Shut your gob, she is doing well". I was properly astonished.

Don't understand womens boxıng. Why would 2 women want to stand ın a rıng and slug ıt out is beyond me. A techncal sport ? I think ıt's just a legal punchup.

I think it's made for women. They have headgear and those gloves to stop them fighting naturally, pulling hair and scratching ;)

Do you like men's boxing? Or is this just a universal dislike of the whole sport? Philosophically I think I shouldn't like the sport at all. But I admit I do always watch the amateur version and enjoy it. And I am with the grumpies up the local - the women's boxing has been bloody good. The finals start approx. 4.00pm UK time so I'll switch TV on now. For those who decry it, then, as they say .... .... ...

Well if you watched that excellent Gold medal performance by GB's Nicola Adams you couldn't help but be impressed by the girl, outstanding, enjoying it better than the male bouts !, technical skill and courage by the bucket full ! and a lovely lady as well !, great stuff fair play ! :).

In the first ever Olympic final of women's boxing Nicola Adams (GB) has won Gold by beating Ren Cancan (China. No. 1 seed, reigning World Champion) by 16 points to 7. If you like boxing and missed this try to catch it on repeats/highlights. Bloody brilliant. Now for the Irish boxer's attempt.

And if you don't like women's boxing don't tune in to women's Tae Kwon Do, where they don't just punch each other, they kick each other also !! :o; Amazing performance from Jade Jones the young 19 year old from Flint, amazing stuff beating the favourite from China to put her into the Final !. :)
With the boxing and Tae Kwon Do what an hour of women's sport, brilliant !!! :)
