When I attempt to log on I get an 'incorrect password' warning on the initial attempt.
The password is not wrong and I am always allowed on at the second attempt.
It has been like this for around a week.
Does this problem exist for anyone else?
-
Yes John - same problem here
-
Yes same here, I type in the correct password but as soon as I hit "sign in" it disappears and get the "incorrect password" warning.
-
Same as above for me too.
-
Same here but always get in on 2nd attempt. Only started yesterday.
-
For those it is happening to, can you give an indication for ow long you have seen this problem (unless you have already said)
-
Anything up to a week Steve
-
Had the same problem for about 5 days now.
-
I can't make this happen at all - are you logging in with the two boxes top right or via the Log In on the blue menu?
-
Same for me. I log in top right
-
Same thing happening to me, for about 3 or 4 days now.
Start by trying to log on in the two boxes top right, then get the incorrect password message and log on ok, with same password.
-
Very strange.....I don't have this problem. Could someone try erasing their Internet history/cookies (and stored passwords if possible).
Steve
-
Done this Steve, (I think!) and not made any difference.
-
Ok...Another question.....
For those that it is happening to...what browser are you using (eg Internet Explorer)
Other than Keith and Myself...anyone this is NOT happening to?
-
Happenes to me the last 5 days.
im on internet explorer.
erasing cookies / history does not solve the problem.
ive even changed my password to no avail
-
Yes, it's been happening to me for about 5 days, I was just going to query it but seems like it's happening to others.
-
I don't log out. I just close my browser....simples
-
For those that say 5 days....can you confidently be more specific of time? Changes were made to the forum later on Sunday so would be of use to knowif problem existed before then
-
"I don't log out. I just close my browser....simples"
Same here.
-
If you have the problem, can you log out and log in now to see if you still have the same? Ta :)
-
Not happening to me either but I don't log out.
-
Ditto ..... using 2 boxes on top right ...... several days
-
Ditto ..... using 2 boxes on top right ...... several days
'several' days means at least?
-
been happening to me since yesterday, i log in at top right hand corner, says incorrect password, i then put the same password on blue screen and lets me in :(
-
Still
a problem faulty
-
several ..... more than 2 or 3 ..... perhaps as many as 5 .... 4 probably
-
Can't remember the exact day it started, but could have been Sunday.
Still happening after logging out and back in again.
-
I've changed a couple of server settings, could those having issues log out, clear your cookies (most important step) and then try logging back in.
JF
-
I removed calis forum cookies, closed browser, opened browser and tried to log in ....... same problem, unfortunately.
-
Ok, what I've done may fix for some but there is a permanent fix which is a bit time consuming - this is a known (but fairly rare) bug with the forum software. We'll sort it out in next day or so.
JF
-
About the past 4 days Keith
-
I have cleared all cookies etc...
But still a fault logging in :(
at least i can still log in, just a bit more time consuming doing it !!
-
From today when I had to log on this morning (top right option) and again just now when I had to log in again after going out.
This time I have filled in the full section and ticked the box to allow me to stay logged in this time so maybe that will make a difference.
I will test it now and report back...
-
OK I restarted the computer - didn't clear cookies or anything - and opened up and remain signed in.
-
I always have the box ticked to stay logged in all the time but hasn't worked at all since Monday.
I use Firefox
-
I meant to say I use Chrome and also the section in the middle of the page with the box that has the how long do you want to stay logged on for had 60 mins showing and this remained showing 60 mins after I checked the stay logged in box.
If there are any problems after 60 mins will let you know :)
Hope we are helping...
-
It's been happening to me for at least 4 days. I've tried logging in on Internet Explorer and Chrome and have the same problem on both.
-
I don't log out so never had a problem until this morning when I found I was logged out. Tried to log in top right hand side and it wouldn't accept the password, took me to the 2nd screen where I ticked the 'Stay logged in' box and it accepted it. Immediately closed the forum down and re opened it. Took me straight in. I don't use cookies by the way. :)
-
Scunner, we have a couple of smf forums and had the same problem on 2 but not a third, we eventually found out it was down to a php 5 upgrade on 2 of our servers (hence not the third) After searching for a fix which seems like forever I found this and it's cured

By the way I've just tried to log in 10 minutes ago with the same problem
Hope it helps.
Packing now see you all in Calis Beach on Saturday ;D
-
Thank you Mr. 08, that does sound promising.
-
I will be in Calis on Saturday for three weeks so I am going to stop worrying about all these technical things of which I have absolutely no understanding anyway.
I am not even going to worry about the price of Efes. :)
-
No problem Scunner hope it sorts it out for you, might see you around Johnh, we will be the noisy ones :) not really.

This is the code change I mentioned previously - saying that, there are a couple of other fixes for this issue, if it happens on your third server and this doesn't cure it let me know and I'll pass on what I know.
So, changes made. Those affected, please clear your cookies and restart browser.
If still happening, let us know.

Yep, Still got the same problem this morning, maybe it's a distance thing LOL
I'm in Azerbaijan.
-
Anyone else?
-
Yes, me! :(
-
And me...................
-
Opened up the forum this morning and it took me straight in as before, no need for password 8)
-
Been kept signed in since yesterday morning with no problems thanks :)
-
Cleared cookies. Restarted Browser. Password invalid still.
I am on Mac OS 10.7 using Safari.
-
I also have had this issue for several days.
Using IE9 on W7.
Have cleared everything in boowsing history inc cookies, passwords etc but problem remains.
Ian
-

-
Working fine now .

Cleared cookies, re-started browser...

-
Cleared everything, but still have the problem.
-
Problem ok @14 10 hrs today but @1855 hrs problem back again.
ive deleted cookies ect and done everything else i can think of.
it only happens when i turn my pc off for a while then once ive restarted my pc some while later i have to put my password back in to log on to this brill forum
-
Mine still not working until second try.
WW
-
Any one else actually tried to log off? I can't
Log on problem is as already described, but did open without using a password just hit log on icon but now system remains open even after shutting down laptop.
-
Had the log in problem for about 5 days, finally went on as a "guest" and checked out this post. I've always had my forum password "saved" by Firefox. Have now gone through the "change password" process in an attempt to cure the problem. Now logged in of course, will let you know if I lose it again.
-
To add, when attempting to log off get message "unable to verify referring url" try again.
Also because I am now always logged on no new new posts are getting through to each section?
-
This morning it was again a log on fault but this afternoon, for the first time, it worked normally.
-
Mine is still the same. I don't find it a huge problem, just takes a couple secs longer. I'm sure it'll get sorted.
-
Same as Lotty. Still happening but always able to log on, just a couple of extra hits on the keyboard! :)
-
CBF threw me out earlier and now I am back to having problems logging in again? :(
-
Same as above
-
Back to fault again
-
have noticed that when i log on the first time when you hit the log on button
it deletes the password i can only log on when the box comes up saying you put the wrong password in
-
Made another couple of changes to the server set up, those who are still having issues can you again clear your cookies, restart your browser and try again.
JF
-
Have tried again but still have the same fault.
-
Still same for me too.
-
I'm nearly as bad as Lance on here but could it possibly have something to do with the 60 min log on time?? I found when I was having trouble if I didn't remove the 60 mins from the box I had trouble logging back in. Just a thought! :)
-
Can people try again - we have changed the process slightly
Don't forget to delete your temporary internet files & history (and passwords if possible) first
-
<Enjoying the silence>
Everyone getting in 1st time now?
-
Umm, no!
Bit easier now though. Click on link top right to take you to page where you put in user name and password, click 'log in' takes you back to same page with details still there but 'incorrect password' in red! Click 'log in' again and get through!
Please say it's not just me! ???
-
Spoilsport :P
It's just you
(so far, I doubt it really is)
-
Marina...without disclosing your password can you say if it has any other characters in it than ABC...Z or 123....0.
Ie characters like @&*+ etc
-
Or perhaps even any Turkish letters..?
-
Nope, just plain and simple English letters.
-
Still exactly the same problem for me.
-
Still the same,
-

Ok, so now when I click 'log in' for the 2nd time it says 'an error has occurred you must wait 2 seconds to log in again'. Then you go back to the last page where the details are stored and log in again and get through! At the moment anyway!
-
Just to let you know mine is the same as Marina's (first part of last email), also now my avatar is obscured? Still can get in though so no big deal.
-
Not sure if it's relatrd, butI have also seemed to have lost the ability to edit or modify ant of my posts???
-
You have eight hours to edit posts - this maximum time was introduced when we moved to the new style dorum to prevent members doing what some have done in the past - deleting their own posts and questions one by one, making dozens of topics very difficult to follow. After 8 hours the modify link is gone. Under 8 hours you can edit/modify using the link as shown:

-
I try to log in top right as existing member to be told password incorrect, after entering the same password twice am allowed in.
The odd thing is when I start to enter my user name I only enter one letter, and then my complete user name is comes up in the box!
-
Same problem just started today for me, have to put my
password in twice before i'm allowed in. Not that it's a problem.
-
Cheers Col - just to confirm, just started for you - meaning you have logged in recently (say in the last week) and it didn't happen but now did?

Intersting.... I put a post on for the Anatolan rock night over 24 hours ago but the modify link option is still not available. It appears to be a problem in just that one post though?? Not a big problem (I just misspelt Pazar)
-
The modify period is the 8 hours from posting Phil - it is there immediately after you post - it disappears after 8 hours, it won't appear 24 hours later or reappear..?
-
New log on system is again requireing me for password , Twice

Right got it! Sorry me being a bit thick there..........
-
The logon fault appears to be solved for me today - it accepts the password first time now.
Ian
-
Yes me too, sign on first time. Thank you those who toiled over this!
-
Yes me too :)
-
Yes, fingers crossed, I'm logging on ok now too ;D
-
The frequency of it happening is definitely well down in the error log - and it seems to be the same members who are being caught over and over again. Perhaps the ones that haven't cleared their cookies etc.., not sure but quite possibly.
-
Scunner,
to give you an idea, over the last few weeks I have cleared cookies, tried IE9 and Chome, and even changed to a new PC (for other reasons) without any solution.
I have been running IE8 on W7 for about a week now and the problem "went away" a couple of days ago.
As somebody who works in IT, I know how ridiculous that last sentance sounds.
Ian
-
Logged out, cleared my biccies and tried logging in again, but still the same problem. Hey ho, a minor problem in the grand scheme of things.
-
Only need to log in once now,My thanks to all concerned
-
Cracked it, I think.
If I log in and hit the enter button on the computer it asks me to enter password again
If I log in and hit the screen "enter" then all is ok
-
i am still having a problem
