Short and sharp people, having left in September last year, whats new on the block, I am aware that the old Escape bar has changed hands and now has a pide oven, but what else is new please - lets go as far as the shore.

New pavements beıng put ın from old escape (now called Angel) down towards the terrace bar. Also road beıng wıdened and hopefully resurfaced.A Turkısh Delıght factory beıng buılt on road at back of Dephne near the paved road. New vıllas beıng buılt around that area as well.
Angel Cafe does a lovely sunday roast and just started Turkısh cookery lessons today ıs the fırst one at 2pm.

Hi Quackers, any news on the shore line, new arrivals/departures/major works/new roads? For me one of the great delights on the first trip out is to find whats new/changed/gone. Roads appear from nowhere, bars vanish, but this year a Turkish delight factory - well thats an easy one for the presents!
The Angel Cafe, assume it does the usual range of local/brit dishes, with beers and ambience!

Angel cafe ıs great ,clean and good food. Nothıng shorelıne yet and all the bars are stıll there athough I understand that a new one openıng between Surf Cafe and Escape and maybe a change at Max's bar. No new roads down there yet and the Dolmuş statıon has not moved from Çaliş yet.

Just been told a new restaurant is opening in April next to Escape . They will be doing a free breakfast on opening day which will be sometime in late April. Also going to be doing a Turkish night.Watch this space.

Mutlu ,of mutlus restaurant has sold it as of 10 days ago. Suat back,signs saying, 007 escape bar,1881 & Mutlus beer garden. Mutlu is having a break for a while. His daughter,Adasu is 1,7/4/12, & adorable. :)

Mutlu has only sold the lease to the bar . The bar and land belongs to the Başkan (mayor) of Çıftlık.

I've heard about the new pavements leading down from the Angel Bar past our villa which is on the corner of 109 Sokak, (the forrest side). Hope they are finished with a new road surface before we arrive on 4 May. Does anyone know?
Whatever is done, it will be a big improvement. The dust created when a cavalcade of jeeps go by on their way to the Surf Cafe at about 5 p.m. in Summer has to be seen - or experienced - to believe.

Its all a bıt of a mess at the moment hopefully they wıll get ıt fınıshed by 4th May. Pavements fınıshed though .

Do you know if they have actually started on finishing or improving the surface of the dusty road? The big problem for us was the mountain of dust thrown over our terrace and pool whenever a car sped by on the way to the beach clubs. Where is the mess if the pavements are finished...? :-\ (hoping you won't say that there is builders rubble dumped at the side of the pavements on either the forrest or other side)

We came back to UK on 11 May. At that stage pavement blocks on forrest side near the Angel Bar were laid out (but nothing done during the week we were there). The road, though now levelled and covered with some kind of red dusty sand/clay created even worse dust clouds and is obviously still to be resurfaced.
Quackers, do you know if anything further has been done to this road? We await with bated breath. . .

No nothıng stıll a dust storm everytıme a car goes past.Waıt tıll the raıns come ıt wı turn ınto a mudslıde. They are drıllıng down at Old Terrace bar maybe lookıng for gold.

That's the former little path to the beach - just past the pink hotel looking towards the sea. The little white building on the right is the Mozzie Bar which was probably derelict when you were on Saglik.
I think all the roads down this end are getting widened as the beach road stops at the Birlik I think ( or it will do )

In Mozzıe Bar ofcourse. Drınks whıle you waıt for your luggage. They are puttıng the footpath ın on the other sıde of the road down from Angel Bar to old Terrace bar today.

Quackers, font of all knowledge in the area down to Terrace Bar from the Angel Bar: any more news on resurfacing the road? You said they are working on the pavement on the side opposite the Angel: last time we were there, only a short section of curb stones had been laid, the rest were in a line but upright - and had been so for ages. The road is the important thing for us - as the dust storm is a killer (could be literally for me as I suffer from asthma!). :-\ Any info v welcome. We have tenants coming mid July, through August and we will be there in mid September.

Pavement finished but no sign of a new surface on the road to eliminate the dust. This week has been very breezy in the afternoons and like a dust storm in places .

I was there last week its a real bloody mess, Mozzie bar has lost its seating area to the front as they have widened the road right up to there front door,
The Mayor apparently owns the land and reclaimed it, they said it it was being done as he is now selling his land in the area and is marking he territory for potential hotel buyers on the land opposite and better road access would encourage a quicker sale !!
Ciftlik is to come under Fethiye soon and he feels that its time to sell his land and there are now lots of for sale signs all around Koca Calis flood water areas popping up by the day..
mixed reaction from the local bars some say that he is driving them out and others say that when its finished and the area is built up they will benefit from the Hotels extra holiday makers in the area
The comment about it looking like a run way is spot on, but its a run way in the desert
The taxi drivers never wanted to take the beach road either due to the state it was in
i cant see it being finished this summer :(

A lot of the lıttle pockets of land have been bought up by companıes and looks lıke they may put Hotels ın the area.Lets hope they are not All Inclusıve so the bars and restaurants can rake ın the revenue. If the mayor calls that a better road he ıs wrong ıts a rocky dust bowl. Would have been better to re block pave the exıstıng road and make ıt wıder. But what do I know.

Be aware there were four villas burgled in the early hours of yesterday morning two on the site near the mozzy bar and two in between mozzy bar and telmosses one lady i was talking to told me that they were in her bedroom while she was asleep.She woke to find villa ramsacked ipad,money,and jewellery taken her hand bag passport credit cards etc were found scattered in the garden her mobile phone was found as well.The police were there for several hours so be alert people.

Does anyone know how the 10year old english boy is that was crushed by a drunk driver up near the surf cafe a few days ago as the rumour has it that the poor boy might lose both his legs and is now in hospital in antalya.I belave that the guy driving was a guy that used to work in the old lemon bar on the beach,anyway he is in prison at the moment.

The boy flew back to UK ın aır ambulance on wednesday mornıng and hıs famıly flew out wednesday nıght. He had an 8 hour op to clean up hıs legs and ıs havıng muscles removed from hıs shoulder to repaır hıs damaged muscles and flesh . He has lost a knee and ıs havıng hıs bones fused so he wıll be able to walk but not bend the leg.

Thanks for the update i feared the worse people stating it was that bad that he maybe in a wheel chair for the rest of his life,poor kid and sad for the family,will be intresting to see what kind of sentence the driver gets.

This should be a harsh lesson to everyone who drinks and gets behind the wheel. The driver may be behind bars, but its the little boy who is paying the price. Bless his little heart....
