I've seen that Sky are advertising a wireless booster, I think they say it will more than double the reach of your wireless internet signal? Does anyone have one of these, do they work and can you buy them from stores like PC-World?

Here is a link to one that Amazon does:

Thanks Marrgie, it looks good and extremely cheap but unfortunately it seems that a computer with a USB port is required, I want to extend the range to use my IPad which doesn't have a USB port.

I simply couldn't use my iPad in the back rooms (our place isn't huge, it's long and thin :D ) as the router is at the front where the cable comes in - I bought one of these:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WA850RE-Universal-Extender-Configuration/dp/B00AHXXJVW
I can report I get full signal in the back rooms now - the extender plugs in half way and repeats the signal. From no connection to full connection - iPlayer was just impossible and now we use it all the time in the kitchen.
I don't know the Sky one, but I thought I would report that for us, these range extenders really did the job.

Another link for an extender with an EU plug:

Experience has taught me that there a points in a building (office or home) where you cannot get, for a variety of reasons, any wi-fi signal, with any amount of boosting or aerials. In which case, providing that you have the same electrical mains connections, then one of these boys works very nicely to get you a wireless signal (and additional ports if required) into the area where you cannot get your current wi-fi setup.

Yes they do work - try Maplins as these are often on offer.

Powerline 200 adapters are on sale for £15 at Currys
Bought them last week - £14.99 - using them as I type - work very well apparently using the wiring in the house to move the broadband around - the quality of our new youview TV box is very very good with them.
-
You using it in calis Ian?
I have got a sky wireless connected that used to share WiFi for sky from room to room, would that be the same thing please?
-
No no - still in the UK at the moment - just impressed with the kit.
We use a dongle in Turkey and I take a free view recorder box full of programmes (300 hrs) each time we go back (I rotate 2 boxes and record whilst we are in Turkey as well) and with DVD's - Turksat and Nilesat we have more than enough to watch.
Ps I have an aversion to direct debits ;)
-
A freebies recorder box,and fill it up..now that sounds good.
-
I take them in my hand luggage and have not had a problem - we just record lots of repeats and current series etc and it works for us - like now Bletchley Circle will be recorded whilst we watch something else and we will watch it in the summer and this time we will be watching last tango in Halifax and Death in Pemberly in Turkey in February :D

Sounds a good idea. This wireless booster, is this little sky multi room box a wireless booster?
-
Mine is a wifi extender (Powerline PL200 @ £14.99) but yes the sky one is a booster as are some of the links referred to earlier in the topic.
-
