Hi Lance.
Go into any mobile phone shop and buy a turkish sim card, I bought a Tukcell card with 250 credits for 30tl. You will need your passport and Turkish address. Use your turkish sim to phone/text home it is much cheaper. Not to sure about registering the phone. :)

As the phone is a Turkish phone it will already be registered so you wont have to go through that hassle!!
