Big thanks for finding lost glasses
« on: June 13, 2009, 12:13:39 PM »
Just thought I would share this story with you all.
Our daughter Amy had been allowed to spend quite a lot of money having some prescription sun glasses made for our recent trip to Calis, and she loved them 8).
On the second day of our holiday, after a trip into Fethiye we decided to return to Calis on the water taxi, while waiting for the boat to leave Amy looked over the side and, you guessed, the glasses fell off and sunk into the murky water of the harbour :o. Amy was almost in tears :(when the young man who runs the boat asked if they were just sunglasses and we said no they were expensive spectacles:-\.
He then donned flippers and goggles and dived in. He dived about seven times but he said it was too dark and he couldn't see anything. Amy told him not to go down again but he said 'one more time' when he came up he had the glasses and was met with a cheer from the crowd that had gathered to watch :).
Amy is so grateful to him, he is a great example of all that is good about the local Fethiye/ Calis people[^].
