Over 65 curfew
« on: July 04, 2020, 19:52:43 PM »
There appears to be a lot of conflicting advise on the curfew effecting the over 65s (10am to 8pm).
It's my understanding that UK Travel operators and airlines haven't informed customers of such curfew.
If and when there is any definitive rules on this curfew effecting tourists would it be possible this post could be updated.
Many thanks

Quite a debate on FB ,but it seems that the Turkish Govt announced that the curfew does not apply to tourists.Personally I have not seen any proof of this and the FCO page still states there is a curfew. It would be nice to know the facts.

I recall seeing it somewhere but for the life of me I can't find it now.

But, according to the US State Department Information for Travellers to Turkey "Everyone over the age of 65 is subject to a curfew from 22.00 - 08.00"

I think the confusion has arisen because of last weekends curfews due to the students exams. . It was stated that domestic and international tourists were exempt from the curfew during last weekend, but residents weren't. All very strange! Nothing official, as far as I am aware, has been said about over 65s curfew and only being allowed out 10 - 20.00.

It was officially announced yesterday under Decision Number 2020/71 by the Governor , Orhan Tavli, that foreign nationals are exempt from the curfew.

Official papers,  so local 65 & over still under curfew after 8pm until 10am, Not really fair but looking at the amount of Turkish tourists here now not wearing masks it will be hard to police?

Tourists over 65 are exempt from the curfew - Expats with residency and Turks are not.
