On Wed 11 Feb I am going to Antalya, hopefully over the mountains via Korkuteli.
Is there a web page where I can get details as to the road conditions in this area.
-
Whether or not the report says the road is OK, at this time of year you should make sure you a) have snowchains in the vehicle and b) know how to fit them properly. IF you are involved in an accident and the Polis deem that it's because you weren't using snowchains you could be fined or possibly have your vehicle impounded.

Someone put a Youtube Video on F.B. recently of that road, it was raining really hard and extremely windy, the road was flooded in place and in some the road had broken up. There where huge waves coming over the road from the sea. In fact the mini bus that was filming the bad weather actually was blown over on it's side.
-
That was the seaside road to Antalya not the mountain road.
-
These pictures are on F.B. just now, with the below text.

After snowing all morning, drivers have been warned of the existing bad road conditions along the Fethiye to Antalya route. These photos were taken at 2pm this afternoon. Looks quite scary!

With people like that driving you can see why the UK comes to a halt after a dusting of snow.
Scarey is when you can't see the bullbar on the front of your 4x4 and, even in four-wheel drive and with snowchains, you're having a struggle to make progress. Been there, done that, on that road. :)

KKOB The person who put these pictures on F.B. is Turkish and not British. So, perhaps they are not used to snow?
-
Does it matter ?
-
This is a good site for anyone who wants to go that route. To-morrow I go the coast road, sooner take an hour extra than be stranded with passengers up that area.

Here's hoping you have a safe journey, snowtop. Certainly the weather forecast for tomorrow is much improved.
It will certainly be scenic! :D

Thanks Menthol

Snowdrop. Look on Kalkan.turkishlocalnews.com as the coast road was closed today because of storm damage.

Here's the link.

Stoop put a video of the damaged road on F.B. this evening, if anyone wants to see it.

We drove to Antalya today via the coastal road, here are a few photos we took on the road near Kalkan.
We did have to take a small diversion due to the force of the sea throwing large rocks against the Armco and it ripping from the posts & blocking the road. :o
