Title: The deed is done..
Post by: BernieTeyze on July 15, 2013, 16:32:06 PM
??? We have put the house on the market today. The estate agent seemed to think it will move quickly...

We are back out in September with Cenk to get a feel for Ovacik area. Yesterday we were sent a link to a crime  page, someone is collating all the crime figures for the area. There appeared to be an ongoing spate of break ins in the ovacik area. There was even pictures where they had removed the security bars to gain entrance. Apparently you need  certain types of fixings in the wall and these ones werent adequate ( obviously : :) Thank goodness cenk is a srtructual engineer, else that will be another thing to have to worry about. Hopefully he will be able to put us right and our dream home is awaiting us this visit.

We are still positive about a move to Turkey When Scunner said expect the unexpected, he wasn,t kidding but then thats life  :)  So fingers crossed, this house goes quickly.

Easy for the bars. Drill holes top and botom corners and then mid way of each side. (Standard window size) Bars should have fixing studs land enough to pass through the walls.
Draw tight with nut and 5 cm washer or plate.
Yo will find that with enough pressure that will sink in the plaster so you can cover it up.
They then need to pull the whole surround out.

Dosn't work very well if you house is only built with blockwork.

Hope your house sells quickly slikmrs and you are soon enjoying somewhere in the Fethiye area!

And very useful to know about the security issues - thanks for that. I am more and more drawn towards Ovacik. Those gorgeous mountain views....

Thanks menthol, really looking forward to going out in september for our holiday and another viewing visit. House is good to go and is now on internet n in estate agents window. She seems to think it will go in a month. Not sure what our next step will be once it sells. Once we move over Ovacik will be the place we settle in.  Hope your search is going well and you find a great place.

We bought the first house we viewed. Within 4 days we had signed, paid a deposit on all our furniture, white goods and curtains from different shops in Fethiye. Went back to Turkey 3 months later the house was built the furniture in and curtains were up.  It was that quick. Not sure if it is still like that. But you will know the right property for you. The feeling you get will be very strong. Maybe even a few tears will be shed as you realise you have found the one for you.
Wishing Slikmrs and Menthol all the luck in finding your dream home.

Ha! I nearly cried just reading your post Partygirl!

I am being super hard and ruthless  >:( and really whittling down my list of possible 'ones' that I have so far only seen online. I'm not very good at it. And you are so right, we'll just know when we've found it. Thank you for the good wishes   :)

And I believe slikmrs's uk house is actually in the paper for sale. One step closer......   ;)

Had to come to bed out the way..first viewing tommorow at 10am...what sort of people view at a10am sunday ..tut.

Ended up having a chinese so the house wont smell of cooking, and believe slik doesn,t want to be going within 30 paces of  that toilet until after they have left tommorow.

I am leaving him to stay here with agent, i,ll hide out down the car boot until I get the all clear to come home..talking of car boots, that will have the full ironing basket and coat hangers in..didn,t have time to iron.:(

I hope this first time buyer will be my last time buyer cos I don,t think my nerves or my marriage can live through too many days like today..

Fingers crossed

That's because moving house is up there with death and divorce on the stress-o-meter!

It will be SO worth it though. Remember that.

And the toilet and husband line made me laugh so much  ;D
