International space station
« on: July 17, 2017, 22:11:49 PM »
The International Space Station travels in orbit around Earth at a speed of roughly 17,150 miles per hour (that's about 5 miles per second!). This means that the Space Station orbits Earth (and sees a sunrise) once every 92 minutes!
It's easy to see when conditions are favourable. There is a particularly good time to see it on Saturday (22nd) evening, as it crosses the sky, more or less from horizon to horizon and directly overhead. I'm aware a lot of people have seen it, but for those that haven't, this is the relevant details.
It will appear at 22.03:56, 10 degrees elevation in the South West. Highest point is 22.07:11, 89 degrees elevation. (more or less straight up) It will disappear at 22.10:26, 10 degrees elevation in the North East. It will look a bit like a plane flying over, but no flashing lights.
If anyone is interested , the site I use is

There is plenty of info but don't forget to enter your location and save it, top right hand corner, to get accurate setup for your part of the world.
