In 1963 I paid  5/- to see Eric Burden and the Animals at a local church hall.
The church kitchen menu consisted of orange cordial, cups of tea (taste-free)
Wagonwheels and Smiths crisps (with a free blue bag of salt).

Have a good time Colwyn and I hope menus have improved.

In the early 60's I queued outside the Astoria Finsbury Park all night to get tickets for the Beatles Christmas show,  Paul was and is my favourite Beatle.  I saw the Yardbirds, The Who, The Kinks, The Byrds, and many others, some of whom played in the local pubs around Edmonton, North London.  I remember at one gig, Keith Moon arrived two hours late, was totally off his head, and still managed to play for 2 hours before smashing up his drum kit and storming off stage.  Those were the days!!!

I was in the Animals fan club and remember having a Christmas card signed by them all... Wonder where that went?

I would never give the Dave Clark Five a chance, the fact that anyone could suggest they could knock the Beatles off their perch caused me grief.  Jacqui, am out in calis end of May, but don't think I could deal with Macca being knocked off his pedestal, would be unbearable for me, nearly 50 years of adoration would be very difficult to cope with!

A very tiny claim to fame is Paul McCartney threatening to smack my bum when I was about 9, ( he was taking the mickey out of my mum at the time, I hasten to add!!)

Thank Kevin. We seem to be on a bit of a nostalgia kick. On Saturday it's a gig by Paul Jones (ex Manfred Mann) and Dave Kelly. Then a few weeks after that Janice Ian and Tom Paxton.

I do like to see the proper people from the old times, these tribute bands are all very well, but people like Paul Jones, Ray Davies etc. who were and still are good, cant be beaten by the rip offs.  Having said that I did see the Bootleg Beatles once, if I didn't look at them and their crooked wigs I could almost believe I was back in 1964.  Mind you I'm not sure the rest of the audience appreciated my singing, back then we took it on ourselves to know every line of every song!!  Am thoroughly enjoying the nostalgia as well ;D

A club I sometimes use book some good groups from my youth.
The likes of The Ivy League
                   The move
                   The fortunes
                   Paper Lace
                   Idle Race
                   The rocking Berries  ect.
The resident group,Mike Sheridan & The Nightriders has included
Jeff Lynne & Roy Wood in it's line-up in the past & for a few years
became The Bruvvers to Joe Brown. "Proper music" and a good night out for about a fiver.  (plus drinks)
