I have always been uncomfortable with programmes like Emmerdale and Eastenders showing "same sex" relationships and I make no apology to anyone for that. I have no problem with same sex relationships, it's just too much for my 10 year old twins to be watching two men (or two women) kissing or whatever at ten past seven in the evening. They are simply too young for me to be forced to explain why they are doing what they are doing. It forces subjects that are too early in the evening to be explained too early in life in my opinion. I have managed to wimp out and avoid facing the issue so far.
I discovered that I must get this awkwardness from my mum. She was round ours when such a scene came on the telly. Being quick on her feet she immediately turned to the kids and through her embarrassment said that the two boys must be very good friends because they were giving each other a really big hug.
"No Gran, they're gay" came the reply
