Not for everyone Puma, but Mrs H and I both cried with laughter through most of it.

Loved it too, but the critic in the Daily Record really had a go at it, calling it a throw back to the 70's.
I read about the guy, Brendan, who plays the woman in it.  He is really clever and in Mensa's top 2%.

Our house is divided over this one! the jury is still out for me will have to give it another go! I thought it was liberally sprinkled with 'music hall ' jokes played out into sketches but will wait and see!

I've sen all the stage shows of this and they are hilarious. Brendan  O'Carroll who plays "Mrs Brown", is a master at ad libbing. He has his fellow cast members rolling about the stage, trying to subdue their laughter at some of his throw away remarks. I'd go see them all again repatedly. Soooooooooooo funny.
:D

Well in our PC household the show went down as a winner, laughed out loud all through it, best comedy out of Ireland since Father Ted.  Saw the Independent the next day and their TV critic slated it for being out of date etc.  Yes I know it used a lot of old - funny - gags in a familiar setting, and used the old Rob Wilton/Mother Reilly character to lead it, but humour was not invented in the last 20 years ... a big ten out of ten for us

Missed it but will be watching it this week. Every reviewer that I have read has absolutely slated it and been terribly snobbish about it, so I deduced from their opinions that most people would probably find it funny as it seems to hark back to the days of comedy that just made you laugh without trying to be clever and patronising.

Milorni's post brought to mind The One Show last night which had a feature on Mary Whitehouse.

Just where did that woman get off (apologies for terminology) telling me what I should and should not be allowed to watch on television. Witch.:(
