That's the downside with them. There's no u-bend, so no water to stop the smell coming up.

I used to sell sanitaryware and the squatting pan should be fitted with a UBend.

That may well be Rimms, but many aren't. Or, if they are, it's probably not such a deep one as we're used to in the UK. Not that I've made a study of this particular subject you'll understand.  :)

Well, I've noted the one-legged recommendation you posted, KKOB, but I think I'll stick to removing trousers and hoping there is a hook to hang them on.

I think they should fit handles inside the   doors for the aged and the infirm

I much prefer the squat toilet when out in public - more hygienic for a start but agree with davybill some sort of hand rails for those that have difficulty maneuvering into and out of the squat position   :)

I've seen a few that have them but, if the cubicle's too wide they're not a lot of use except to tuck your trousers into for safe keeping.   :)
