Olu Deniz Fifth in "Best Beach" Poll
« on: April 05, 2011, 08:26:50 AM »
According to an unnamed poll with no details, the Daily Express says that Olu Deniz came a very creditable 5th, just beating St. Ives in Cornwall into 6th (and the UK's 1st).

Apparently, Trip Advisor conducted the research. I can't agree with Ayia Napa being number One in Europe, I've been to far better including Olu Deniz!

Yes I thought that too - Ayia Napa beach was so nice that we used to pay for a taxi to Protaras and back most days - now that is a beach  :)

South West France beaches, Vendee region and south, for me.  You may want to avoid the sea though, a dip for a gentleman can quickly produce two lumps in the back of the throat :-\

i know Olu Deniz beach is very picturesque, but the sea and the crowds really put me off going there, Went once in the last 4 years last year, because a friend stayed and wanted to visit it, stayed 1 hour, Love watching the paragliders though

I was almost shocked to discover that you don't have to go to the Caribbean or Maldives for fine white sand beaches and pure blue sea - you can find all that right here in Scotland! The water is a tad more chilly though  ;)

Back in the 60s my sister and her husband, who was in the royal navy, were stationed near Paisley, I remember visiting as a kid and we went to some lovely beaches. Also I always wanted to see loch lomand because of the song,ye tak the high road etc, but always remember Loch Long was more picturesque, Maybe changed now though, that was in 1967:D

This is the link - I received it from tripadvisor yesterday, it is the best 25 beaches in Europe:

Some strange choices in there. Suprised at Albufeira being only 14th.
