Just a reminder that the Calis Carnival car boot sale takes place on Sunday in the car park at the rear of Mado Ice Cream Parlour (next to the Bahar Hotel)on Calis seafront. The gates will be open to sellers from 9.00 am and to the general public from 10.00. Stalls cost 10 lira. For those who wish to borrow tables please can you make sure that you get there early as we ran out last time.
Tickets (and masks) for the Grand Carnival Masquerade Ball, which is being held on Saturday March 15 at the Aymes Hotel will also be on sale at the fair on the Carnival Information table - price 65 lira. This fabulous evening will consist of a mouth watering 7 course gourmet banquet masterminded by a former chef at both the Dorchester and Savoy hotels in London. You can choose from an English or Turkish menu or you can mix and match courses from both. There will be live music by the band Shadow, dancing and cabaret acts including a performance by local talented singer Paul Wynter. There will also be a raffle of some really good prizes donated by local businesses. The event is being televised by TRT television (the Turkish equivalent of the BBC) for a forthcoming documentary about foreign residents living in Turkey.
For those of you who do not wish to drive home or bother with taxis, the Aymes are providing overnight accommodation and breakfast at 25 lira per person.
Admission to this event is by ticket only and we need to know your choice of menu in advance so please make sure to buy your tickets early. Further details of the ball and the full mouth watering menu can be found on the carnival website
