The Calis Open Gardens Day takes place on Sunday but there is still time for you to get involved.
On Sunday (16 May) there will be five very different gardens, all located in Calis, open to the public ranging from small but beautiful plots to an old hotel garden (now occupied by English & More Learning Centre located next door to the Calis court house). One aptly named the "recycled garden" consists mainly of cuttings and unwanted plants rescued from rubbish bins and other sources! Visitors will be able to look around the gardens and discuss plantings and ask garden questions with the owners.
To get in and view the gardens you buy an entry ticket, in the form of a map showing where the gardens are, and for a mere 2TL you can visit all five. The garden at the English & More Language Learning Centre will also have stalls selling plants and refreshments with all items priced at 1TL.
The easiest way to get involved in Calis Open Gardens Day is to buy a map and visit all 5 gardens on the day. You can buy a map at any time during normal working hours from Sine Rous at English & More.
On the 16th the gardens will be open from 1pm to 4pm, and any remaining maps will be on sale at the entrance to each garden.
If you'd like to do more you can donate a homemade cake or some biscuits/scones to the refreshment stall. Or pot up some plants and donate them to the plant stall. Donations can be dropped off at English & More the day before the Open Gardens Event, Saturday 15th, from 5 - 6pm, or on the morning of the 16th from 11am onwards. If you'd like your donations to be collected just e-mail ptemiz@aol.com and collection will be arranged.
So please think about donating cake/plants and, if you can't manage that, please buy a map and take part in Calis Open Gardens Day.
The event is being organised by the Fethiye Gardening Club to raise money for the Calis Carnival children's charity and gardening club funds
