Auction night
« on: May 27, 2010, 15:13:20 PM »
Such a lovely thing happened to me at the end of the auction. A man and his wife whom I had never seen before were passing by my chair to leave and I spotted the lovely bag she had. I stopped her and told her it was beautiful and would she let me know when she was going to throw it away to throw it in my direction. All very lighthearted but she promptly emptied the contents into her husbands pockets and gave me the bag as she said she was going back to UK the next day and was unlikely to use it in England. How lovely was that from a complete stranger. Completely made my night. Thank you whoever you are and I sincerely hope you read the forum.

Excellent auction night but marred by someone who stole a small piece of our jewellery from the exhibition stand. It was a small gold pendant valued at about 300TL. It was kindly donated by a jewelers in Fethiye. It was tied to a small bag and the thief untied it from that. When I think about all the hours put in and the trailing around for donations I could cheerfully have strangled someone that night. To take money from the kids we are doing it for. Well words fail me. Very upsetting. Other than that we did really well taking about the same as last year. Chrissy will say how much when she has had time to get around to it. Busy weekend coming up as everyone knows.

Is there a photo of it Anne? We could publish it and see if it turns up anywhere. Such an event is very disappointing, but far more relevant is the fact that disappointed as I am, I am not shocked to read that.

Just to let you know that after doing all the workings out yesterday,I calculate that we have made about 9100 TL when all the monies come in from the auction!
Big big thank you to everyone who came & spent their cash!
Don't forget it's the BIG day tomorrow-off to bed now for our 6am start.
See you all there!
