I saw the sweetest little squirrel in Kaya yesterday. It was quite red coloured with a tinge of grey, are there red squirrels in Kaya? It was smaller than the ones I have seen in Britain.
-
I saw a red squirrel at tlos a couple of years ago
-
Most of the Kaya squirrels are a mix of grey and red. I haven't seen any completely red ones and have only ever seen a couple of pure greys. They seem to be about half the size of those in the UK though.

We spotted one with the same colouring trying to get across the road .After a bit of will I won't I on the road it decided to go back the way it came.
First one I have seen here.

Two red squirrells have nested in our roof here every winter since 2002.That's just on the outskirts of Ovacik on the valley side. I don't know how long they live for so maybe it was a couple of generations.
Noisy little blighters and they kept throwing walnuts at usfrom the roof top.
-
not squirrells but are there pine martins in this area ? i saw what looked like one with a bushy stripy tail dashing accross my back garden one night and we are close to forrests.
-
Yes, there are Pine Martens. Also Weasels, Polecats and Wild Cats.

Just come in from a late night walk with the dog and saw a huge hedgehog really motoring along the road! Also there is an owl that barks like a small dog comes along every night at the same time (about eight o'clock). It sits in the same place every night at the same time and then flies off.

I remember reading somewhere about a breed of owl that barks like a dog

Are you sure it was'nt a porcupine?
-
I agree with Wallace, it could have been a porcupine. I've never seen one here yet, but have picked up several quills over the years.

I did not know they had porcupine here! It was really big for a hedgehog I must admit. Glad that I kept the dogs away from it!!
